Lead Safety Training For Contractor, Landlord or a Painter

If you're a contractor, landlord or a painter... or anyone who makes money in the renovation or remodeling of older homes, you've probably heard about a new lead safety training certification law. There are a lot of rumors out there about the EPA's new lead safety training certification law and sometimes it can be hard to sort out the facts. As a certified EPA/HUD Lead Safety Training Program Manager and Principal RRP Certification Instructor, as well as a Project Manager for the Housing Rehab and Lead Hazard Control for one of New England's largest cities, I am able to clear up some of the mysteries behind this new law.

Everyone has heard something, somewhere about the hazards of lead. Leaded gasoline (if you are old enough to remember), Lead in toys from China and other countries, Lead in solder, in bullets, in fishing lures, in drywall, in pottery, and in paint in old houses. This new EPA law on RRP Certification and Lead Safety Training is focused on lead based paint in homes built pre-1978.
